Keystone Indivisible

is a local chapter of Indivisible established in Centre County, PA in December 2024. We work to combat authoritarianism, elect progressive candidates, and build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive society. To achieve this, we educate the public, organize peaceful actions, promote progressive policies, and collaborate with other organizations to lift up all people who live and work in Centre County.

De-ICE Citizens Bank

🗓️ Saturday, July 18, 10:30am – 11:30am

📍 1900 South Atherton St, State College, PA 16801

Join Keystone Indivisible and thousands of people across the country to send Citizens Bank a clear message: financing private prison and immigration detention facility operators The GEO Group and CoreCivic is bad for business.

Please bring signs specific to this action: De-ICE Citizens Bank; Cages Aren’t Communities; Citizens Bank – Stop Financing ICE Prisons; Citizens Bank + ICE = Human Rights Abuse; ICE Prisons Don’t Strengthen Our Communities; Citizens Bank – Cut Ties With ICE Prisons; etc.

Citizens Bank is bankrolling the country’s two largest prison companies that are earning record profits operating dozens of ICE detention facilities. While most major banks have cut ties with CoreCivic and The GEO Group, Citizens Bank is deepening its financial support for these companies, which are already holding more than half of the 70,000 immigrants currently in ICE detention centers across the country.

We won’t quietly stand by as Citizens continues to finance the private prison & ICE detention companies that are harming our communities. The 2019 exodus of banks from the industry in response to activism should be a reminder to us that our voices matter. Now it’s time to use them. Visit www.de-icecitizensbank.org for more information and other actions you can take!

Remember, we want to be in solidarity with workers including bank branch employees. Treat everyone with respect and do not harass or film employees.

A core principle behind all Coalition events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We expect hosts to ensure all participants in your event uphold this commitment. We recommend all participants review a safety and security resource before your event, such as https://indivisi.org/safety.

Resistance Readers Book Discussion

🗓️ Wednesday, July 22, 6:00 – 7:30pm

📍 Schlow Centre Region Library (Downsbrough Community Room) (211 S Allen St, State College, PA 16801)

Mutual aid is the radical act of caring for each other while working to change the world.

Around the globe, people are faced with a spiraling succession of crises, from climate change-induced disasters to ongoing societal horrors. As governments fail support the vulnerable, ordinary people are finding bold and innovative ways to step up.

Dean Spade’s book “Mutual Aid” is about why mutual aid is so important, what it looks like, and how to do it. It provides a grassroots theory of mutual aid, describes how mutual aid is a crucial part of powerful movements for social justice, and offers concrete tools for organizing, such as how to work in groups, how to foster a collective decision-making process, how to prevent and address conflict, and how to deal with burnout.

On Wednesday, April 22 we will come together to discuss Dean Spade’s “Mutual Aid” with the goal of organizing our own actions. Anyone is welcome, and while we encourage you to read the book beforehand if you can, it is not a requirement!
